Taubate-vs-Cruzeiro
Cruzeiro ended the year with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 32-30) win over Taubaté, valid for the 10th round of the 2019/20 Superliga Masculina regular season.
The away triumph over the leaders and champions of the competition pushed Cruzeiro to an only one-point backlog in the charts in relation to them. The duel was hot and even had a confrontation between famous head coaches Renan Dal Zotto from Taubaté and Marcelo Méndez from Cruzeiro. With 25 points (8-2), Taubaté still hold the lead of the Superliga. Cruzeiro are at 24 points and 8-1.
The second set brought so many complaints to the refereeing, especially from the visiting side, and video checks while Cruzeiro opposite hitter Evandro Guerra (top scorer of his team with 15 points) was warned with a yellow card. Ricardo Lucarelli tallied 12 points for the losing side. On two occasions in the third set, Renan and Méndez were dissatisfied with the video check. Both coaches were given a red card, which in volleyball gives a point to their opponent. Cruzeiro secured the victory thanks to a video challenge when referees saw Taubaté opposite hitter Leandro Vissotto touched the net.
