Julia Kudiess Leads Brazil’s Block Party Against Canada
In Istanbul, Julia Kudiess turned into a one-woman wall. The 22-year-old middle blocker racked up an incredible eight kill blocks, lifting Brazil to a 3-0 victory over Canada (25-20, 25-23, 25-23). She also hammered home eight spikes and ended the match with 16 points.
Teammates Julia Bergmann and Ana Cristina de Souza backed her up in style—Bergmann topped the scoreboard with 17 points, while Ana Cristina chipped in with 13. Brazil now holds a strong 5-1 record, climbing to fifth in the standings.
Canada showed spirit, especially with Abagayle Guezen coming off the bench to lead her side with 13 points. Nyadholi Thokbuom added 12 points, including two blocks and an ace. Despite the loss, Canada’s young squad showed signs of progress.
Poland Cruises Past Germany in Belgrade Showdown
Meanwhile in Belgrade, Poland left no doubt as they rolled over Germany in straight sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-20). The Polish team was sharp and steady, marking their sixth win in seven matches.
Martyna Czyrniańska led the charge with 16 points, followed by Magdalena Stysiak with 14, and Agnieszka Korneluk who added 10. Poland controlled every aspect—blocking, serving, and limiting errors.
Germany’s Emilia Weske put up 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Polish momentum.
