In two Women’s Volleyball Nations League matches held in Hong Kong and Istanbul, China defeated Japan 3-1, while Brazil delivered a dominant sweep against the Dominican Republic.
In front of roaring home fans in Hong Kong, China came out strong, dominating Japan in the first two sets (25-15, 25-12). Japan responded with a solid third (25-18) and pushed the fourth to a 21-all tie, but China stayed composed and closed it 25-22.
The star of the match, Wu Mengjie, scored a match-high 24 points, including five blocks and the game-winning spike. Gong Xiangyu chipped in 16 points, while Zhuang Yushan and Wang Yuanyuan added 12 and 11 each.

In Istanbul, Brazil secured their sixth win in seven matches, beating the Dominican Republic 3-0. Ana Cristina was on fire, scoring 23 points and leading Brazil’s offense. Team captain Gabi made her tournament debut late in the third set, bringing energy and leadership in her return to international play.
“We’re improving each game,” said Gabi. “It was important to win today, but we know tomorrow against Turkey will be a real test.”
