Brazil’s top scorer Ana Cristina is out of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Japan leg after injuring her left knee during the match against France.

The 20-year-old outside hitter landed awkwardly while attempting a block in the second set and had to be carried off the court. A post-match MRI confirmed a medial meniscus injury, according to the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV). She has already begun physiotherapy.
This injury is to her left knee, not the same one she had surgery on in 2023. Despite the setback, Ana remained with the team, receiving medical attention and support from teammates.
Cristina leads Brazil with 167 points in the tournament, including a 27-point performance against Turkey in Istanbul. Her absence is a major blow as Brazil pushes forward in the VNL.
