GER M: VfB Friedrichshafen opens the final series with an away victory

The first victory in the match No.1 of the Bundesliga playoff finals goes to VfB Friedrichshafen. At the start of the final series, VfB Friedrichshafen defeated Berlin Recycling Volleys 3-2 (18-25, 25-27, 26-24, 25:21, 16:14) in front of 4,437 spectators at the Max-Schmelling Halle in Berlin.

This great match was overshadowed by two injuries of two important players, Vojin Čačić from VfB Friedrichshafen and Jeffrey Jendryk from Berlin Recycling Volleys. Injuries occurred during the same rally in the second set – VfB outside hitter Vojin Čačić suffered an Achilles tendon injury, while BR Volleys middle blocker Jeffrey Jendryk injured the ligament of his right foot. 

Benjamin Patch of BR Volleys was the top scorer of the match with 30 points. Luciano Vicentin was the top scorer of VfB Friedrichshafen with 21 points. 

Match No. 2 of the final series is scheduled for April 20 at the ratiopharm arena in Ulm. The finals are played in a “best-of-five” format.
