The Dresdner SC kicked off the 2025/26 volleyball season in style, defeating SSC Palmberg Schwerin 3:1 (25:18, 32:34, 25:22, 25:23) to claim the WT Energiesysteme Supercup 2025. Playing in a sold-out Margon Arena packed with more than 3,000 fans, Dresden delivered an impressive performance to secure their first title since 2021.

Dresden started strong, dominating the first set with aggressive serves and fast-paced attacks led by Emma Grome and Miku Akimoto, their standout new signing from Japan. Schwerin fought back to take the second set after a thrilling point-for-point duel, but Dresden responded with confidence and control. With powerful plays from Marta Levinska and Akimoto, the hosts took charge of the final two sets to clinch a well-earned victory.

Team captain Patricia Nestler couldn’t hide her excitement:

“Winning at home and starting the season with a title — it’s just an incredible feeling. We stayed calm, fought hard, and deserved this win.”

Head coach Alexander Waibl praised the team’s effort and energy:

“That’s the perfect start to a season. We played with great intensity, and the fans created an amazing atmosphere.”

Despite the defeat, Schwerin’s coach Felix Koslowski acknowledged the quality of the match:

“It was a high-level game. Dresden were more consistent today, and players like Levinska and Akimoto made the difference.”
