Allianz MTV Stuttgart kicked off their home season in perfect fashion, sweeping Ladies in Black Aachen 3–0 in front of a buzzing crowd of 2,036 fans. Before the match, emotions ran high as club legends Krystal Rivers and Roosa Koskelo were inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame — a heartfelt moment that set the tone for the night.
Once play began, Stuttgart took charge right away. With Melani Shaffmaster running the attack and Pauline Martin and Antonia Stautz firing on all cylinders, the hosts never looked back. Aachen fought hard, but Stuttgart’s rhythm and power were too much to handle. Head coach Konstantin Bitter summed it up perfectly: “Awesome!”
Meanwhile, in Suhl, DSCVOLLEYs Dresden pulled off a gritty 3–2 comeback win over VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen. After falling behind 1–2, Dresden dug deep to turn the match around. Miku Akimoto led the charge with 22 points, while Mette Pfeffer earned MVP honors.
Coach Alexander Waibl praised his team’s fight:
“Suhl made it tough for us, but our spirit and teamwork got us through.”
Two matches, two very different stories — Stuttgart’s smooth sweep and Dresden’s thrilling comeback — but both wins show the Volleyball Bundesliga season is already off to an exciting start.
