No.2 seed PAOK overturned the Game 1 of the 2019/20 Volley League Pame Stoixima playoff semifinals against No.3 seed Panathinaikos A.O and caused an upset (just like Foinikas against Olympiacos, yesterday).
Even 21 kill blocks and 2-0 weren’t enough for Panathinaikos, who entered the match as favorites given that PAOK couldn’t count on any of the foreigners who played for them prior to the season break due to coronavirus: Steven Marshall, Kay van Dijk, Bries van den Dries, Dmitriy Ilinykh… Panathinaikos were only deprived of the help of Serbian Saša Starović.
The Thessaloniki side was led by Alexandros Boutos (21 points), while Alexandros Raptis top-scored for Panathinaikos (30 points).
