GRE M: PAOK Triumphs in Super Cup, Clinching Historic Victory Over Olympiacos

In a thrilling encounter lasting 2.5 hours, PAOK emerged victorious against Olympiacos, securing the Greek Men’s Super Cup for the first time. The final score of 3-2 sets marked a historic win for PAOK.

The Super Cup’s MVP honor was awarded to PAOK’s outside hitter Axel Truhtchev, who contributed an impressive 18 points. Other notable players included opposite Bram Van Den Dries with 20 points, setter Márkos Galiótos, and middle blocker Aleksey Samoylenko, who added 11 points and recently joined the Thessaloniki team. Despite their efforts, Olympiacos fell short, with Slovenian opposite Toncek Stern leading their side with 26 points and Salvador Hidalgo contributing 15 points.

This victory was particularly significant for PAOK, breaking their losing streak at Olympiacos’ home ground. They celebrated their first win since 2021, when they also triumphed 3-2 in the League Cup.

The match, which lasted 126 minutes, ended with a final set scoreline of 25-27, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 12-15. This win adds PAOK to the prestigious list of Super Cup winners, a list that includes renowned teams such as Aris A.S., Olympiacos S.F.P., Iraklis, Panathinaikos A.O., A.O. Phoinikas ONEX, and now, PAOK.
