This was kind of a strange decision made by PAOK management.

PAOK decided to sack their head coach Ioannis Kalmazidis at the end of the 2016/17 regular season! This decision was definitely a big surprise for everyone, simply because Kalmazidis led PAOK toward championship titles in the previous two years, while he also made 6 consecutive wins in the last 6 rounds of the 2016/17 regular season and helped the team enter the Playoffs from the 2nd position.

Anyway, PAOK have already found a replacement for Kalmazidis. The club appointed Argentine coach Jorge Elgueta, who will lead the team in the Playoffs.

Elgueta has worked in Greece both as a player and as a coach. He was the head coach of AEK Athens for a short time in the 2014/15 season.
