The Greek Men’s Volleyball defending champions PAOK Thessaloniki solved the problem of a coach for the 2017/18 season.

Instead of an Argentinean Jorge Elgueta, who left PAOK after claiming the national title last season, the club from Thessaloniki engaged Daniele Ricci.

A 66-year-old Italian expert was without a job for the last two seasons but came to PAOK with an enormous reputation. He coached several big clubs in his home country like Cucine Lube Civitanova, Bunge Ravenna and Revivre Milano but also two biggest rivals of PAOK in Greece – Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos Athens.

Ricci won several major titles: FIVB Club World Championship once (1991), CEV Champions League three times (1992, 1993, 1994), CEV Cup once (1997), Italian Cup once (1991) and Italian Cup once (1991). These are all the trophies he took with Bunge Ravenna. In addition, Ricci won the Greek Championship once (2001), Greek Cup once (2001), and Greek Super Cup once (2000), all with Olympiacos Piraeus.

The last club he coached was an Italian Division 2 side Caffè Aiello Corigliano in 2014/15.
