At the presentation of the 2019 Italian Women’s Volleyball Super Cup, which will be held on November 16 in Milan, the President of the League Mauro Fabris revealed that this city is the candidate to host the 2020 CEV Champions League Super Finals.
The European Volleyball Federation (CEV) is still waiting for an offer regarding the organization of the Super Finals that replaced the old Final Four (held until 2018) and which is supposed to be spread over two days, unlike this year in Berlin, Germany, when it was held in a single day.
The CEV aims to make a three-year arrangement for hosting the event and according to the head of Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile, Milan will bid for the organization. The arena in which the Super Finals will likely be held is the Mediolanum Forum, located on the outskirts of Milan and whose capacity is 12,000 sets.
The general rehearsal of Milan’s ability to organize big volleyball events will be the upcoming Italian Super Cup between Imoco Volley Conegliano and Igor Gorgonzola Novara and a single-game play-off final in both competitions on May 9-10. The last time Italy hosted the CEV Champions League final was in 2017 when the Men’s Final Four was held in Rome and Women’s in Treviso.
