Cucine Lube Civitanova are the first finalists of the 2019/20 Italian Men’s Volleyball Cup whose Final Four is held in Bologna.

Lube-vs-Trentino

Itas Trentino have been worthy rivals to Cucine Lube Civitanova in what seemed as endless semifinal match of the 2019/20 Del Monte Coppa Italia SuperLega held in front of 9,000 spectators at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. The team coached by Angelo Lorenzetti had the lead in sets of 2-0, but the European and world champions showed what they are made of and turned the encounter around: 3-2 (15-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-12 ).

Luxembourgian Kamil Rychlicki was Lube’s top scorer with 22 points, but the role of Cuban Robertlandy Simón has to be stressed. He scored as many as 11 points in the fourth set, having an 80% (12/15) attack throughout the game. Serbian Srećko Lisinac tallied 20 points for Trentino, including 6 kill blocks and 4 aces.

Trentino really started fast in set 1 and 2 and looked really smooth but Lube’s experience and identity showed through when it counted. Bruno found the hot spikers at the right time and Simone Gianellli didnt feed the ball enough to his middles and Russell who hit .680 and zero errors. Both Trentino’s other pins received more sets and far lower scoring percentages. Doesn’t look like Kovacevic will be back this year to form so the coaches need to be smarter.

Hoping the Perugia/Modena match is as good.
