Just like in the first leg, Itas Trentino came back twice in the semifinal match of the 2020 Del Monte® Supercoppa against Cucine Lube Civitanova but this time failed to outplay the rivals.

At the seasonal debut at their Eurosuole Forum, Lube redeemed for a five-set defeat in the first leg, beat Trentino in the same way (3-2: 25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11), plus the golden set (15-12). All that in more than two hours of a battle for the final of the tournament, which was relocated from the Verona square to an indoor hall.

Cuban-Brazilian Yoandy Leal top-scored for the winning side with 15 points, including 4 blocks. Simone Anzani set up the same number of blocks, while Leal’s countryman by birth Roberlandy Simón served 5 aces. In Trentino, the Dutchman Nimir Abdel-Aziz tallied 20 points, while Simone Giannelli made 4 blocks.

The tie-break was seen in the other semifinal that lasted for more than two hours as well.

Leo Shoes Modena were close to extending the match against Sir Safety Conad Perugia to the golden set after getting a lead in sets of 2-1 and having two set balls in the fourth set. The “Block Devils“ annulled them both and took the set by a 28-26. Leveling the match at 2-2, Perugia earned a place in the final and could afford to lose the tie-break.

Cuban-Polish Wilfredo León was Perugia’s most prolific player with 21 points (4 aces). Argentinean Sebastián Solé made an 85 % attack. Serbian Nemanja Petrić scored 15 points for Modena. His compatriot Dragan Stanković had a 73 % attack.
