After losing from Imoco Volley Conegliano in the opening round of the 2020/21 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile regular season, one-time CEV Champions League, Italian Championship, and Italian Super Cup winners VBC Èpiù Casalmaggiore were stunned at home by Delta Despar Trentino, in the second round: 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 26-24).
Thus, after two wins in as many games, the newcomers to the elite division have settled at the top of the charts. Of course, given that the remaining matches of Round 2 are yet to be played, it’s hardly likely that Trentino will stay at this position for a long time.
The youngster Vittoria Piani was the most prolific player on the winning side with 22 points. Eleonora Furlan added 5 blocks. Brazilian Rosamaria Montibeller scored 20 points for Casalmaggiore.
