The pace of the game of the CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League runners-up Itas Trentino will be entrusted to a young and talented domestic setter.
The new setter of Trentino is Riccardo Sbertoli, coming from SuperLega rivals Allianz Milano where he was raised as a player and for which he competed professionally up until now. A 23-year-old player signed a three-year contract with the current Champions League vice-champions.
Despite his young age, Sbertoli gained important experience in the Italian Championship (the strongest in the world), playing 170 games, as well as in international competitions, winning the last edition of the CEV Challenge Cup. Sbertoli was appointed as a captain of his country’s national team (with which he took the 2018 Mediterranean Games) in the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
He will have a difficult task to replace Simone Giannelli, the beloved player by Trentino fans, who moved to Sir Safety Conad Perugia.
