SuperLega Semifinals: Perugia Triumphs Over Civitanova in Game 2 Thriller
Sir Susa Vim Perugia seized a 2-0 lead in the SuperLega Credem Banca Semifinals after defeating Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-2 in a nail-biting five-set match (21-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 10-15).
Perugia’s aggressive play, especially from MVP Oleh Plotnytskyi, who scored 15 points including 7 aces, and top scorer Ben Tara with 23 points, made the difference. Despite strong performances from Civitanova’s Bottolo and Lagumdzija, each scoring 17 points, the home side couldn’t hold off the late surge by Perugia.
Game 3 is set for April 16 in Perugia. Civitanova must win to stay in the race for the championship, while a victory for Perugia would seal their spot in the finals.
Meanwhile, Piacenza will face Trentino on Sunday, April 13.
