The Russian team was simply too strong for the Italian representative in the first leg.

Every set was like the rerun of a previous – 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19).

In each set, Zenit speeded up between techical time-outs and changed into fastest speed in the finish.

After every first technical time-out, Zenit had the advantage of one or two points, same was after the second, with the exeption of the third set (16-11).

Zenit came into finish line of all periods of the game with comfortable 3 or 4 points more than Piacenza.

Thus, second leg in Russia will be just a formality.

Maxim Mikhailov scored 17 and Wilfredo León 13 for Zenit. Hristo Zlatanov had 11 and Raydel Poey 10 points in Piacenza.
