Nordmeccanica Piacenza won a true battle with Foppapedretti Bergamo in semifinals of the playoffs in Italy to fight for their third ever championship title.

Game 3

Game 3

Piacenza prevailed the team which eliminated current title holders Pomì Casalmaggiore in quarterfinals by 3-1 (28-26, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20) in Game 3 and took the series 2-1. Interestingly, it was the first time that one of these two teams achieved victory at home court in the series. And Piacenza did it in front of a record number of fans in their “PalaBanca” gymnasium this season – 3,100. Thus, they will play grand finals against Imoco Volley Conegliano.

Foppapedretti is not the team that gives up so easily, especially when the championship final is at stake. They were alive in the game until the last breath, but in the end, SorokaiteMeijners duo (42 points in total – 22+20) led Piacenza to gold medal series. In ‘Foppa’, the Croatian Katarina Barun-Šušnjar had 24.
