Even though the terms were agreed during the winter, Padova have confirmed the signing of James Shaw a few days ago on their official website.

The 21-year old U.S. setter is coming from Stanford University. He was also a member of U.S. national team.

It’s going to be his first season abroad:

It’s really exciting. Not just for the experience that I will gain as an athlete but also as a person. I can’t wait to visit Padova, the city that has great history. I expect to work hard with the new teammates and to grow both personally and at club level. The Serie A1 is the best league in the world and I can compare myself with the best athletes on the planet. Really inspiring” says Shaw.

He took part at the Junior World Championships in Turkey and Argentina and in 2014 he was a member of USA Senior’s national team that competed in World League.

His father Donald was a head coach of both men’s and women’s teams at Stanford University for a total of 27 years. James has older sister Jordan, who played volleyball as well at St. Mary’s College.
