A 22-year-old Greek National Team member (65 caps) Georgios Tzioumakas left LPR Piacenza to join Serie A1 newcomers Castellana Grotte.
Young athlete, who was one-time Greek champion and Cup winner (with Iraklis Thessaloniki in 2011/12) has been playing in Italy since he was 18 and Castellana Grotte will be his third club in this country.
Last year in Piacenza, Tzioumakas collected 12 appearances, acting as backup for the Cuban Fernando Hernández.
Along with the signing of the Greek opposite, Castellana Grotte renewed with a player who had a significant role in achieving promotion to Serie A1, in 2016/17, and who will fight for the spot in line-up with Tzioumakas – with Roberto Cazzaniga.
He has been a member of Castellana Grotte since 2011, finishing Division 2 with the most ace points last season – 76!
