A 36-year-old Cristian Savani strengthened Verona despite the fact his first goal was to compete abroad next season as he stressed in an interview for our website. The 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist with Italy national team came from Taiwan Excellence Latina for which he made 41% reception last season. Verona will be the 10th professional club in Savani’s career.

In addition to a two-time CEV European Championship winner, Verona hired Iranian Morteza Sharifi. A 19-year-old player spent the last season playing in Shams and will become the fourth player from the Asian country in SuperLega, the second in Verona after Mohammad Javad Manavinejad extended the deal with the club. The remained two Iranians in an Italian top-flight in the 2018/19 will be Saeid Marouf (Emma Villas Siena) and Mojtaba Mirzajanpour (BCC Castellana Grotte).
