JPN W: Surprise Wins in Women’s SV.League

Sunday brought some surprises in Japan’s Daido Life SV.League as two underdogs stole the spotlight. Saitama Ageo Medics shocked league leaders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki with a 3-2 road win, led by Izabella Rapacz’s 17 points. Despite the loss, NEC stay on top of the standings.

Okayama Seagulls delivered the day’s other upset, bouncing back from Saturday’s defeat to beat Denso Airybees 3-1. Captain Sora Nagase paced the Seagulls with 15 points.

Hisamitsu Springs climbed to second place after sweeping their double-header against Kurobe Aqua Fairies, with Stephanie Samedy starring in both matches. Victorina Himeji slipped to third after a tough five-setter against Queenseis Kariya.

Defending champions Osaka Marvelous also had to rally from two sets down to edge Astemo Rivale Ibaraki in five. Gunma Green Wings and PFU BlueCats closed the weekend with important wins, while bottom-ranked Aranmare Yamagata continued their struggles.
