Puerto Rico Clinches NORCECA Men’s Final Four Title

Puerto Rico triumphed over Mexico 3-1 at the NORCECA Men’s Final Four held in Salvador Dijols Coliseum, Ponce, Puerto Rico. Despite losing the first set 23-25, Puerto Rico bounced back with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-21 to secure the gold medal undefeated (3-0). Mexico finished third with one win and two losses, while the Dominican Republic secured second place with a 2-1 record.

Pedro Molina, Puerto Rico’s outside hitter, was the top scorer with 22 points. His teammate, Klistan Lawrence, added 19 points. Mexico’s top scorers were Mauro Fuentes with 13 points and Axel Tellez Rodríguez with 12 points.

In another match, the Dominican Republic won a five-set thriller against Guatemala, finishing 3-2 (25-17, 25-27, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7). Wilfredo Hernández led the scoring for the Dominican Republic with 19 points, while José Pérez scored 18 points for Guatemala.

Kevin Rodríguez of Puerto Rico was named MVP and best setter of the tournament. Pedro Molina received awards for best attacker, best server, and best scorer. Other notable awards included Rafael Burgos of the Dominican Republic as best blocker, Henry López as best reception, and Enger Miéses as best defense and libero. Mexico’s Víctor Parra was recognized as the second-best middle blocker.
