South American clash of the second round in Pool B went to Peruvian National Team 3-2 (25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 20-25, 15-11). Argentina’s domination in blocking (15-3) was in vain as their players committed 32 errors. Both teams are now tied with 1-1 records
Ángela Leyva noted 29 points for Peru, while Emilce Sosa and Paula Nizetich registered 18 points each for Argentina.
In same pool, Cuba grabbed another supreme victory, edging past Costa Rica in straight sets and leaving only 35 points overall to the rivals 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-18). Regla Gracia and Jennifer Álvarez topped Cuba, both with 8 points, Paola Ramírez also had 8 in Costa Rica. Cuban NT has 2-0 record.
Other teams which achieved triumph in Round 2 are USA (Pool B), Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Canada (Pool A).
