Serbian Men’s Volleyball team Mladi radnik Požarevac has withdrawn from participation in the BVA Cup (October 5-6) in Strumica, North Macedonia, for political reasons.

Mladi radnik, the play-off semifinalists of the Serbian Championship last season, decided to withdraw from playing the BVA Cup, a competition contested by the respective teams of nations who are members of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA). These nations are Bulgaria, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Romania and Kosovo.

Since there is a big chance they will play Prishtina Volley of Kosovo, Mladi radnik do not want such a match to take place, Serbian Volleyball Federation (OSS) published. It is a political decision knowing that Serbia does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

Apart from Mladi Radnik and Prishtina, the home team of Gio Strumica and Tokat Belediye Plevne from Turkey take part in the tournament whose winners will secure a spot in the 2nd Round of the 2020 CEV Challenge Cup, in which they will face Hungarian champions Vegyész RC-Kazincbarcika.
