The Dutch women’s volleyball star Lonneke Slöetjes decided to temporarily stop playing volleyball.

The famous Dutch player Slöetjes will no longer be in action this year either for the national team or on a club level. The opposite hitter that collected 302 caps for “Oranje” decided to take a break that might even prolong to the next year, too. Slöetjes will resume her studies in business administration.

“The constant combination of club volleyball and the national team has been very stressful for me over the past decade. There were, of course, many wonderful moments but lately, I’ve lost a bit of fun in the game. I’m now listening to my heart and it says: no volleyball for a while,” the 29-year-old player stated in an interview for NPO Radio 1. Slöetjes added that she doesn’t yet know what she’ll do next year.

Last season, Best Opposite Spiker of the 2016 Rio Olympics played for Italy’s Savino Del Bene Scandicci.
