The 16-time Belgian Men’s Volleyball Championship winners, Greenyard Maaseik, delighted their fans by signing the middle blocker duo.

Pieter Verhees has returned to Maaseik after eight years.

The 30-year-old Belgium National Team won the triple crown during his last stay at the club in his home country (national championship, cup, and super cup). After that, Verhees embarked on an adventure in Italy where he spent the six straight seasons during which he won the cup (Leo Shoes Modena 2014/15) and was named Best Middle Blocker of the league (2017, wearing the jersey of Vero Volley Monza). He completed his international adventure, for now, in the Polish Plusliga with Aluron Virtu CMC Zawiercie, last season.

In addition to Verhees, Maaseik engaged the Iran National Team member Amirhossein Esfandiar. The 21-year-old player, who has an uncommon height (2.09m) for a position that he covers (outside hitter) came to Maaseik from Kalleh Mazandaran and will join his compatriot Javad Karimi.
