A few days before returning to Italy and joining the preparations for the new season of Allianz Milano, Ishikawa announced at a press conference that he has created a guide for the prevention of coronavirus infection and for avoiding transmitting the virus at athletes. His work was designed on the basis of his experience in Italy where the infection spread rapidly.
Made under the supervision of the Kobe University Hospital, the guide of the Japan National Team outside hitter contains six precautionary measures for athletes. Among them, a particularly curious one concerns hand washing. Ishikawa tells how volleyball players have a habit of involuntarily touching the bottom of their shoes before serving, and he advised his colleagues to stop doing that as it can be a huge source of possible infection.
