Better seeded teams achieved wins at the start of the best-of-three playoff semifinals of the 2020/21 Chinese Women’s Super League.
The titleholders and also No.1 Tianjin swept the fourth seed Guangdong by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-22). Zhu Ting stood out on the winning side with 21 points, including 5 blocks, while Meng Zixuan had 81 % reception (69 % perfect). American Kelsey Robinson scored 21 points for Guangdong.
The second seed Jiangsu dropped one set but emerged victoriously against No.3 Shanghai. Gong Xiangyu tallied 29 points for the winners, while Ni Feifan made 72 % reception (47 % perfect). German Louisa Lippmann top-scored Shanghai with 29 points. Gao Yi set up 8 blocks, Wang Weiyi had 80 % reception (65 % reception).
