Foolad Sirjan defeated Shahrdari Urmia by a 3-1 (25-23, 30-28, 21-25, 25-21) to win the 23rd edition of the Iranian Men’s Championship.
Sirjan prevailed over one of the most famous Asian clubs in the series of the playoff finals of the 2020/21 Super League by a 2-1, winning the championship title for the first time in the club history. The long-awaited trophy of Sirjan came after two silver medals and three bronzes. Saber Kazemi highlighted the new titleholders in a decider with 29 points, while Armin Tashakori set up 4 blocks. Meisam Salehi top-scored Urmia with 23 points. Masoud Gholami made 4 blocks.
The club coached by Mohammad Reza Tondravan took the title from a position of underdogs as they finished the regular season in 4th place. They eliminated the top-seed Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan in the semifinals. Sirjan weren’t favorites in the finals, as well, as their rivals Urmia were regular-season runners-up.
