In the previous two seasons, San Lorenzo were stopped in on the last step towards winning the title in the Argentine Championship, both times by Boca Juniors. In 2020/21, the team coached by Mario Gallego was determined to make this right.

In a decisive match of the Liga Argentina, the ‘Las Matadoras’ beat Gimnasia by a 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 14-25, 15-11), won the series by a 2-1 and got crowned as champions for the first time ever. San Lorenzo’s campaign in the league was impressive, consisting of 16 wins and only 1 defeat, which came in the series of the finals.

San Lorenzo outside hitter Daniela Bulaich was awarded MVP of the final series.
