After they won the 3rd and decisive match in the 2020/21 Danish Men’s VolleyLigaen final series against 3rd-seed Marienlyst by a 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 25-22), the top-seed Gentofte took the title for the 4th season in a row. These two met in the playoff finals for the first time since 2017 when today’s losers prevailed.
American Tomás Goldsmith, who spent most of his professional career as a beach volleyball player (between 2010 and 2018), top-scored Gentofte in Game 3 with 21 points. Rasmus Mikelsons set up 5 blocks, while Mads Møllgaard made 76 % reception (17 digs, 1 error, 18 % perfect).
With the overall victory in the 2020/21 Danish Championship, Gentofte once again cemented their dominance in the country’s volleyball in the last decade, having a total of 9 league gold medals and has not missed the final in the competition since 2011.
