WCQ M: FYROM and Ukraine set for final showdown in Skopje

The hosts of the F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Ukraine scored on Saturday their second consecutive win in Skopje thereby claiming their ticket to the second stage of the qualification process for the 2014 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship. Macedonia defeated Montenegro 3:0, Ukraine was better than Albania 3:0.

The Macedonians edged Montenegro in three straight sets (27-25, 25-20, and 25-20) as they did stick to the good tactics prepared by their Bulgarian-born head coach Nikolai Jeliazkov to stop the best players of Montenegro, namely Milos Culafic, Marko Bojic and Aleksandar Milivojevic. The home captain Nikola Gjorgiev paced his side with 20 points well supported by Gjoko Josifov and Risto Nikolov.

Ukraine did also cruise to a straight win over Albania finishing their task in about one hour (25-16, 25-12, and 25-16). Everything is set for the much anticipated showdown on Sunday where many Volleyball fans are expected to cheer on their heroes at SRC Kale sports hall in Skopje.
