WCHJ W: USA beat Nigeria 3-0 in the round robin for 17-20 placements

Nigeria and USA opened the Saturday schedule at Vodova with a match of the round robin for the classification 17-20, a phase which is going to end on Sunday with USA – Puerto Rico and Thailand – Nigeria. USA easily put aside Nigeria in a one-way match. Rodney Wilde started with Nicole Edelman in place of Kelsey Humphreys. Doosuur Atule and Sarah Burrington were the top scorers.

USA coach Rodney Wilde decided to rotate his typical starting six, changing setter with Nicole Edelman in place of Kelsey Humphreys from the second set and then having all the girls on court (except Merete Lutz).

On the other side of the net, the Russian coach of Nigeria team Sergey Ovechkin tried to motivate his team, but it wasn’t even a great day for the top player of the African team, Mercy Promise. Nigeria best scorer was Doosuur Atule (9 points). USA balanced all their attackers with three players in double digits, but a particular mention is for Sarah Burrington got 13 points with a record of 6/11 blocks.
