WCHU23 W: Local organizing Committee starts with preparation

The FIVB Women’s U23 World Championship local organising committee has started with the preparation for this international event that will take place in the cities of Tijuana and Mexicali.

Once again in Mexico

The first coordination meetings took place this week to check the main details for the two official venues: The State Auditorium in Mexicali and the Baja California High Performance Center in Tijuana.

Matches are scheduled from October 5th to 12th with twelve countries divided in to two groups. At the High Performance Center in Tijuana will play teams of Pool A composed of Mexico, Japan, Italy, Dominican Republic, Turkey and Argentina. These countries will look for the two tickets to the semifinals.

At the same time in Mexicali the State Auditorium will receive the teams of Pool B composed of The United States of America, Brazil, China, Cuba, Germany and Kenya.

According to the Local Organizing Committee in charge of the Baja California Sports Institute, the FIVB Officers are expected to arrive in Mexico on October 1st to hold the preliminary inspection of competing stages and loading.

Competing teams will have their official entry on October 3rd and the first matches will be played on the 5th in both cities. Bronze and gold medal matches are scheduled on October 12th in Tijuana as well as the semifinals.

This will be the first edition when matches will be played to 21 points per set with a two points difference.
