The hosts of the final four tournament needed only 72 minutes to down Slavia EU BRATISLAVA of Slovakia in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-18) with Nikola Radosova top scoring for SVS Post with 16 points. “It was not an easy match especially since all the pressure was on our side; our rivals showed some good defense but we eventually and deservedly advanced to the final match” says local Sports Director Darko Antunovic. “We were really looking forward to this match and I think this victory is well deserved” adds team captain Cornelia Rimser.
In the second semifinal Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR edged Doprastav BRATISLAVA 3:1 (25-12, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20), losing the right pace only in the third set before wrapping it up with a solid performance in set 4 with Sarah Julie Ammerman scoring a total of 22 points.
The final match is scheduled for Monday at 8:15 pm and will be preceded by the Slovak derby for the third place at 5:30; both matches will be broadcast live by ORF+.
Waiting for the final match, the assistant coach of SVS Post SCHWECHAT, Peter Gartmayer, is not too optimistic especially as his side suffered a defeat to MARIBOR in the prelims: “It will be a very tough match as they have traveled to this tournament with all of their best players. Anyway I think we can be slightly pre-favorite going into this final”.
