Vande Broek was at the helm of the “Yellow Tigers” as they won silver in the 2013 edition of the CEV Volleyball European League and bronze at the 2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship thereby being shortlisted for the “Coach of the Year” award together with Marc Wilmots, mentor of Belgium’s soccer national team, and Francky Dury, the manager of Zulte-Waregem football club. In the semis Asterix beat last year’s winners VC OUDEGEM

Michelbeke is a small village in the southern part of the province of East-Flanders which is mostly known for being the birthplace of Belgium’s former Prime Minister Herman De Croo and of his son Alexander, who currently is the country’s Deputy Prime Minister. Richa MICHELBEKE caused a sensation already in the 1/4 finals as they beat reigning national champions GENT Dames; in the semis they first lost 2:3 to Datovoc TONGEREN before they won the return game at home 3:1 to historically make the final stage of the competition.
