At home in Nicosia, Omonia celebrated their new Cypriot title. The leading team in the country’s men’s volleyball in recent years took the 6th trophy in the league in its history. Taking advantage of their home court and their fiery fans, ‘The Greens’ (No. 1 in the regular season) defeated No. 2 Pafiakos 3-0 (31-29, 26-24, 25-19) in Game 3 of the 2021/22 Men’s OPAP Championship playoff finals to win the series 4-1 (the series started with 1-1 as a result of the regular-season performance of both sides).

Omonia were led to the 3rd title in a row by Moldovan setter Marin Lescov and Brazilian outside hitter Evandro Souza, who stood out the most in the Nicosia team not only in the playoffs but also during the season. Interestingly, the head coach Savvas Savva was in command of Omonia in winning all 6 league trophies (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022 – the 2020 championship was interrupted due to a pandemic).
