In a thrilling night at the South Paris Arena, France and Slovenia have advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s Olympic volleyball tournament. France secured their spot with a commanding 3-0 victory over Canada, winning 25-20, 25-21, and 25-17. The French team will face Slovenia on Friday to determine the top spot in Pool A.
France’s Earvin Ngapeth and Jean Patry led with 13 points each, while setter Antoine Brizard impressed with six aces. Canada’s Stephen Maar and Arthur Szwarc both scored 12 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
Earlier, Slovenia clinched their quarterfinal berth with a 3-0 sweep of Serbia, winning 25-21, 25-19, and 25-19. Toncek Stern was outstanding, scoring 25 points with two aces and a block. Slovenia remains undefeated in Pool A, while Serbia has yet to secure a win.
