Orion Stars from Doetinchem have convincingly advanced to the next round of CEV Champions League qualifiers with two consecutive 3-0 victories. In the second leg, played at SC Voždovac, they defeated Crvena Zvezda 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 in just 76 minutes.
Crvena Zvezda, who also lost the first match in the Netherlands, saw their hopes of Champions League qualification end. Aleksandar Gmitrović led the home side with 11 points, while Maksim Shkredau from Orion Stars contributed 10 points to secure the win.
Crvena Zvezda will now compete in the CEV Cup, while Orion Stars move on to the third round of qualifiers.
In another qualifier today, CSM Corona Brașov overcame a 0-2 deficit against Volley Schönenwerd to advance, despite losing 3-2 in Romania.
