Croatian Superliga: Playoff Push & Relegation Battles

by WoV

The Croatian Women’s Superliga is heating up, and teams are making their final push for the playoffs! Nebo dominated Dubrovnik with a 3-0 (22, 10, 20) win, securing their spot in the postseason. They set the tone from the start, crushed the second set, and never looked back. Meanwhile, Osijek grabbed a hard-fought 3-1 win over Don Bosco, with a thrilling second set that saw multiple set points before the visitors leveled at 1-1. However, Osijek took control in the final two sets and closed it out.

In a local derby, Brda outlasted Marina Kaštela in four sets (17:25, 25:23, 19:25, 23:25) after an intense 110-minute battle. The home side had their chances to force a fifth set but couldn’t hold onto their late lead. Elsewhere, Mladost, fresh off their MEVZA League victory, showed no mercy to Kelteks, sweeping them 3-0 (19, 18, 13) in just 70 minutes.

League leaders Dinamo came from behind to beat Ribola Kaštela 3-1 (21:25, 25:14, 25:10, 25:20). Despite losing the first set, they dominated the next two, leaving no doubt about their form heading into the playoffs.

Men’s Superliga: Mladost, Rijeka & Marsonia Stay Strong

The Men’s Superliga saw dominant performances from the league’s top teams. Mladost barely broke a sweat in their 3-0 (15, 18, 20) win over Sisak, wrapping it up in just 71 minutes. Rijeka had a similarly smooth night, dispatching Split 3-0 (17, 18, 20). Marsonia joined the trend with their own 3-0 (24, 21, 13) win over Rovinj, though they had to fight back in the first two sets.

The match of the round, however, was an epic five-set thriller in Kaštela. Mursa Osijek edged Ribola Kaštela 3-2 (20:25, 25:14, 25:23, 20:25, 13:15) in a marathon 142-minute showdown. The home side looked in control at times but couldn’t close out key moments, allowing Osijek to snatch victory in the final set.
