The city of Subotica broke this past weekend all records as 9’350 fans attended the matches that took place at “Dudova Suma” sports hall for the first leg of the 2012 CEV Volleyball European League – Women. And Subotica broke also the record of attendance for a single match in the league round of this competition as 3’000 fans got together on Saturday for the match opposing Serbia to Spain, while 2’700 and 2’900 watched the games played by the home heroines vs. Hungary and Romania respectively.

These figures are totally out of reach for the other venues of this year’s European League with 1’600 supporters on the stands for the home match of Spain against Greece in Teruel while 1’500 cheered on the Czech girls in Brno as they powered to a home win over Greece.
While more than 9’000 spectators followed in Subotica the first round of Pool A, 2’770 were to be seen on the stands in Brno for the first leg of action in Pool C. In the men’s event good figures were registered in Katerini, Greece (3’075 spectators) as well as in Teruel (for a total of 4’800).
