Santilli will try to qualify ‘Volleyroos’ for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. He replaced Argentine Jon Uriarte, who led Australia to two Olympics.

“I have watched with great interest the development of the Australian team players and have coached several of them in teams I have coached in Europe. Their commitment, physical quality and skill have always impressed me, and I am convinced that the current group has the opportunity to be at the top of the sport internationally for several Olympic cycles,” Santilli said for volleyballaustralia.org after taking over the helm of ‘Volleyroos’.

Santilli is famous coaching name in Europe. He was on the bench of some very competitive clubs such as Lube and Latina in Italy, Jastrzębski in Poland and Odintsovo in Russia.

He was also the head coach of an Italian Junior national team and member of staff in senior team. Santilli also had the role of a consultant and assistant in the German senior NT.

Currently, he’s on the bench of the last placed team in Poland, MKS Banimex Będzin.
