Players and technical staff of guest team are accommodated in the Olympic hotel which is adjacent to the competition hall, where they will play all matches in pool B at Azadi Stadium.

Iran is really in tough group with superpowers of the world such as USA, Poland and Russia. Today and Sunday (June 21) at 21:00 local time (18:30 C.E.T) will play against USA, the team who won six previous matches, collected 17 points and stands at top of group B, while the national team of Iran has 2 wins and 4 losses with 7 points.

John Speraw head coach of USA said:

Iran team made a lot of progress in volleyball. In two matches at the first week Iran showed a great effort. Against Iran we have fight for every ball, I am sure that spectators in the hall will create  difficult atmosphere for us.” He added “It is obvious that USA team is at the top of pool B, but we have had a long hour trip so we would have a hard game. I can’t predict the match result”.

The head coach of Iran, Slobodan Kovač:

I am so glad that USA and Iran teams here in Tehran are going to play versus each other. At the moment USA is the top team of our pool, but Iran is going to play in front of its fans. So, hope to have a good game. It is good that we smashed the Russian team which is the Olympic champions but each team has its own specification, I can’t say since we have defeated Russia so we would beat the USA. I am not going to give excuses but we are going to play against the volleyball giant.”
