In Pool A France came back from two sets down to edge Serbia (21-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-11) to cement their second place in the standings.
On the other side Turkey took third place as hosts Azerbaijan suffered their fifth loss in the tournament in a thrilling tiebreak drama (25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 21-24, 20-18).
Serbia will play Germany in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, June 24, whilst Poland will be crossing the ways of Slovakia.
The other two quarter-final matches will be determined following the Drawing of Lots scheduled for Tuesday morning at 11:00 am Baku time.
