Roberto Santilli’s team finished ninth at London 2012 and 15th at the Poland 2014, FIVB Volleyball World Championship

They also progressed as a team in this year’s FIVB Volleyball World League, where despite losing to Italy, Brazil and Serbia, their performances and the impressive attendances in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide show that the team and sport are developing well.

At the moment though they are ranked 13th in the world, but with only 12 spots available, they must continue their improvement to book their place in Rio.

The goal of this team is to qualify for the Olympics,” Santilli said. “We really believe and are working so hard and improving so fast, so we will be ready.
