WC W: Who can stop Kosheleva? Russia wins tiebreaker vs. hosts

Russia kept their perfect record in the 2015 FIVB World Cup in Japan after beating the hosts in a thrilling tiebreaker in Tokyo 3-2 (12-25, 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13).

Japan had a perfect start of the match, sweeping out “Zbornaya” in the first set, but the Russians showed their strength in the next two and created a turnaround.

Japanese team almost dropped a huge gap in the fourth set 23-18 as Russians approached to 23-22, but the fifth set was on a horizon.

In the tie-break, Asian team had one-point initiative until 7-all but at changing sides, led by unstoppable Tatiana Kosheleva who won almost every point until then, Russia had 8-7.

“Zbornaya” had 12-10 and didn’t let go a two-point gap until the end. Kosheleva finished it with a spike, deservingly 15-13. She ended the game with 34 points, followed by Nataliya Obmochaeva with 22.

In Japan, Saori Kimura scored 23 points. Yuki Ishii collected 13.
