EEVZA Tour
In an all-Russian men’s final, Ruslan Bykanov & Maksim Hudyakov defeated compatriots Nikita Liamin & Dmitri Barsouk in 34 minutes – 2-0 (21-18, 21-17).
A Russian pair took part in the third-place match, but Arnas Rumsevicius & Lukas Kazdailis were the home heroes at this event winning Latvia’s only medal after a 2-0 (21-16, 21-14) victory over Oleg Stoyanovskiy & Artem Yarzutkin.
Russia’s domination was even more comprehensive on the women’s side as a complete set of medals is on its way to the world’s biggest country.
Olga Motrich & Nadezda Makroguzova triumphed with the gold after a 50-minute three-set battle in the final against Yulia Abalakina & Ekaterina Syrtseva, which ended at 2-1 (21-19, 16-21, 15-10).
The all-Russian podium was completed by Anastasia Barsuk & Alexandra Moiseeva, who took the bronze after a 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) win against Ukraine’s Valentyna Davidova & Ievgeniia Shchypkova.
12 men’s and 12 women’s duos from a total of six countries – Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Ukraine, took part in the main draw tournaments of the event, organized by the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) at the indoor Brazilija Beach Volleyball Center, the first of its kind in the Baltic countries.
