Jiangsu vs. Bayi
With this win, achieved in the eighth round of Top 8 phase of the Chinese championship, Tianjin kept top spot in the standings.
The Cuban opposite Nancy Carrillo had another outstanding performance, scoring 29 points for the winners. She was supported by 15 from Chen Liyi. In Beijing, Liu Xiaotong had 21 and Zeng Chunlei 20.
By beating Beijing, Tianjin did a favor to Bayi, but they didn’t take advantage of it as they lost to second placed Jiangsu (Zhang Changning 25 pts.). Jiangsu and Tianjin are equaled with 6-2 record, but with Tianjin having two points more (18-16).
Shanghai kept third place on the table with the win in the tie-break over Zhejiang, partially 20-25, 25-14, 24-26, 25-18, 15-13. The Croatian outside hitter Senna Ušić-Jogunica finally ‘woke up’ and added 18 points to the best scorer of Shanghai, the Canadian Sarah Pavan (21).
Fujian, again without American Nicole Fawcett, are still winless (0-8) as they suffered defeat as hosts against Liaoning. Wang Yimei showed her class once again as she scored 19 points in Liaoning.
